Adams’ 13-wicket haul helps Essequibo thump Upper Corentyne

GCB/Jaguars 3-Day League

Essequibo surged to another commanding win when they brushed aside Upper Corentyne by a whopping 169 runs, thanks to some collective teamwork which likely ensured they kept their top spot when their GCB/Jaguars 3-Day League 5th round match ended on Sunday.

Anthony Adams

Essequibo amassed a mammoth 454 all out, thanks to Keemo Paul hammering 177, Kevon Boodie 59, Ricardo Adams 87, and Kemol Savory 49, leaving their opponents to chase a stiff target of 298. This uphill task was too much for the Berbice team, and they were steamrolled for 128 in 47.3 overs, thanks mainly to Essequibo skipper Anthony Adams picking up 6-29 to go along with his first innings haul of 7-91. He ended with overall figures of 13-120.
Upper Corentyne managed a few starts from Balchand Baldeo (31), Eon Hooper (20) and Kandasammy Surujnarine (18), but Anthony Adams and his namesake Ricardo, who snatched 2-52, proved too much for the Ancient County’s XI.
