The rain did not deter the thousands of chutney music lovers on Saturday evening when the 15th edition of the Clash of the Titans Super Concert was held at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
With a line-up of more than 50 artistes and several bands, the Fire Fest Productions-led event got underway at about 19:00h. Despite intermittent rain during the close to nine-hour show, the fans were fully entertained by some of the best in the music industry-both local and international singers.
But putting the icing on the cake was Guyana’s very own Adrian Dutchin, who is also the 2026 Soca Monarch. His performance was the epitome of good vibes and energy. The ‘We Are Guyanese’ singer did not hold back as he engaged the crowd with some of his Soca hits, including ‘Born and Grow’ and Tick Tock.’
He nevertheless sealed the deal with a chutney rendition, ‘All Rum Drinkers’ and sent the audience into a frenzy when he took off his lilac-coloured blazer and showed off his dance talents. He also took the time to interact with the fans while bringing some humor. One must say that with his limited time on stage, it was an unforgettable performance.
Also performing on point was the seasoned campaigners, Karma Band, with its lead singers Ravi ‘B’ and Nisha ‘B. ‘ As usual, they brought the vibes and tore the house down. Singing some of their signature tunes, which are known by all, did the job for the night. They even sang their well-known birthday song for Mahendra Ramkellwan, who was celebrating his 50th.
The birthday boy did not stay back stage. Turning up on stage with his dazzling blazer, he too was well received by the audience, especially when he belted out his newest tune, ‘Sajana,’ and one of his oldest, ‘Dem Ah Watch Meh.’ He was accompanied by Granny Ivelaw who had the crowd giddy.
During his performance, he thanked his supporters for their trust shown in him for the past 15 years as a chutney show promoter while adding that bigger things are yet to come. He also expressed gratitude to his sponsors, who have been with him since the inception of Clash of the Titans.
However, the first time performing at Clash of the Titans, Trinidadian young singing sensation Reehana Gopal enticed the crowd with her singing talent and definitely left a mark-and more so, her name on the tongues of everyone who was present. One of the tunes she sang was that of reigning Chutney Monarch Queen, Rasika Dindial, ‘Pong D Damadol.’
‘Gilbaka Gal’ Sonia Singh also did her part to please the crowd and keep them entertained. But among the Guyanese artistes, the standouts were Vacadi Singh, Tony Cutzz, and Simon Naidu. The trio combination did the magic for them and brought down the house.
By the time the first set of artistes performed, it was already after midnight. KI and the Band Triveni arrived on stage early Sunday morning. Kris Persad led the performance, and soon after, he was followed by Vickash Sahadeo. They both performed several of their individual songs and a few collaborations.
Leading up to the event, a lot of focus was placed on Young Breda’s first time at Clash of the Titans. His hits brought the vibes, but by the time he arrived on stage, those who were not already drunk were already tired.
He smashed his latest song, ‘Inch by Inch,’ and one of his most popular, ‘Greatest Bend Over.’ His fans enjoyed his just-above-average performance, but many felt that he shortchanged them.
By 3:00h, the crowd started to leave the venue just as the last acts, including Aw Lyrical, were gearing up to perform.
All in all, the Clash of the Titans did not fall short of expectations, and the promoter did his best to ensure all systems were in place to accommodate every patron, whether general, VIP, VVIP, or those from the corporate boxes.
Some of the other performers were the young sisters from Trinidad and Tobago, Katelin and Kaylee Sultan; Guyanese Baboo, Terry Gajraj; Shivram Rajaram from Holland; Steven Raphal; Omesh Singh; Rick and Vanessa Ramotar; Jo’E and others. Most of the artistes were backed by the Shakti String Orchestra led by Avinash Roopchand.
The show was emceed by WR Reaz and DJ Sherriff from Trinidad and Tobago.
