Adrian Hetmyer’s century leads RHC Arborsmart U-15 to convincing win over Edinburgh Warriors
The U15 action continued as Rose Hall Canje Arborsmart U-15 duked it out with Edinburgh Warriors U-15 on Sunday, January 09, 2022 at Rose Hall Canje ground. The 50-over affair saw a scintillating century coming from 12-year-old Adrian Hetmyer, and supporting half centuries from Romario Ramdeholl and Jaden Edwards.
Batting first, the Rose Hall Canje side got off to a comfortable start, with Ramdeholl and Hetmyer being able to pick the gaps with easy, placing the ball wherever they wanted. The opponents could not say much, as they struggled against a top-class batting unit. However, Ramdeholl’s wicket fell for 63 as he handed Dimitri Williams his first wicket, who broke the opening 161-run partnership.
This brought Jaden Edwards to the crease, and he played a supporting role to Hetmyer, who took charge of the game. With Hetmyer and Edwards scoring fluently at the crease, the Warriors gave away a plethora of runs in extras, thus boosting the Rose Hall total. In the end, Hetmyer brought up his century and continued to rally on. Edwards as well stayed to the very end, brining up his half century also. At the end of the allotted fifty overs, Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 121 off 138 deliveries. His innings included three boundaries and two maximums, while Edwards remained on 58 off 73 deliveries.
Edinburgh gave away 111 runs in extras (7b, 3lb,96w,5nb) taking the Rose Hall score to 353-1 in their allotment of 50 overs.
When Edinburgh took to the crease to chase 354 off 300 balls for victory, everything went wrong for them. Their batsmen could not find their footing, and the pressure mounted as they lost a flurry of wickets in succession. By the third over, they had scored 18-4, and from there everything went downhill. Edinburgh were reduced to a measly 58-9 in 13.2 overs as Rose Hall won by 295 runs.
Bowling for Rose Hall were Nicholas Hall with 2-21, Johnathan Outar with 1-11, Lakeram Singh with 1-13, Enrique Mickle with 1-1 and Abdulla Azad with 2-3.
