Agnus Chess Institute to host another chess course
After hosting a successful chess camp, the Agnus Chess Institute will be back at it again as it prepares to launch another beginner course at the American University of Peace Studies.
Registration dates for the classes are August 10 & 17 from 10:00h to 14:00h.
The course will commence on August 19 and continue for four days (20th, 21st, 26th and 28th) from 09:00h to 12:00h at a cost of $15,000.
The individual behind this initiative is Candidate Master (CM) Ronuel Greenidge, who has a 1728 rating, and proudly represented Guyana in the 41st Chess Olympiad, where he snatched his CM title.
From there, Greenidge has continued to use his platform by training players.
He is the current chess coach for the University of Guyana and bagged a total of 11 medals at the University Games in Colombia. At the chess camp, some of the issues that would be covered are how the pieces move, tactics, opening, middle game strategy and concepts, endgame concepts and more.
In an invited comment, the Candidate Master said, “I believe in chess; I believe in my product; I believe chess should be offered to everyone. People may want to know why I am offering yet another class, but it is my true belief that everyone should learn the game of chess. The institute has many aims: the first is to provide quality training to chess players of all levels. The second aim is to identify chess talent that has the desire and drive to help them become a titled player – CM, FM, WCM, WFM, WIM. I’m still a competitive player with further aspirations and I have knowledge and experience that can be passed to my students.”
