Agricola holds on to top spot as Timehri looks threatening

EBFA/Juicy Juice U-13 League

Youth football action is getting hotter than ever on the East Bank of Demerara as the East Bank Football Association (EBFA)/Juicy Juice Under-13 League winds down.

Eon Daniels of Agricola Red Triangles

With just six matches left to be played in the inaugural competition, an exciting climax is being anticipated by the eager fans.
The battle for the top spot will definitely be between Agricola and Timehri, who are both on 21 points, with Agricola currently leading on goal difference. However, the ball is in Timehri’s court because they have two matches remaining, one more than Agricola. One can expect a scorching battle between the two teams when they meet in the remaining encounter.
The EBFA is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a decision made by a coach to withdraw his players from an encounter. The matchup between Herstelling Raiders and Diamond Upsetters saw Herstelling commanding a large 4-0 lead, thanks to the efforts of Solomon Austin (2), Xavi Atkinson and Albert Adams. But the matchup was cut short by the Diamond players’ departure.
In another thrilling encounter, Diamond United demolished Soesdyke Falcons 8-1 on account of goals from Shaquan Braithwaite (29th, 31st, 37th, 46th), Shakeem Welcome (23rd, 34th), Shaquan Joseph (25th) and an own goal from Soesdyke’s  Joshua Saures in the 60th minute.
Soesdyke got on the score sheet in the 50th minute through a Daniel Da Costa goal, but it was a little too late.
Agricola showed why they are currently on top of the table with a massive 10-1 victory over Kuru Kururu Warriors. Eon Daniels led the charge with an impressive helmet-trick, followed by three other goals. Captain Jonathan Andries pitched in with three, while Floyd Boyse contributed two, and Seon Grant one, to bring Agricola’s tally to ten.
In the other matchups, Herstelling was defeated by Swan FC 2-1, while Samatta Point/Kaneville edged past Hararuni Eagles 3-2. Herstelling received a 7-0 trashing, this time from Timehri Panthers, whilst Agricola upset the Diamond Upsetters 3-1.
