A 29-year-old Agricola, Greater Georgetown man was remanded to prison when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged for robbery under arms.
Michael Young, of Lot 165 Titus Street, Agricola, denied that on October 5, 2018 at Houston, East Bank Demerara he robbed Isaura Simon of a black purse worth $10,000 and $20,000 while using personal violence during the robbery.
Young appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that Young was caught by public-spirited persons and the items were retrieved from his possession. Prosecutor Jones objected to bail, citing that violence was used during the felony as well as the penalty the offence attracted.
Chief Magistrate McLennan upheld the Prosecutor’s submission and remanded Young to prison. The case will continue on October 12, 2018.
