Albert cops “Speedy” Memorial title

Newbie golfer Rohan Albert stormed the Greens on Saturday to emerge winner of the 7th annual “Speedy” Memorial Open played at the Lusignan Course.
Some 41 pros registered with 36 taking to the Fairways in honor of the late

Prabhudial “Speedy” Ramdial whose memory lives on through his sons; most notably Vish Ramdial CEO of tournament sponsor, Vish Trading. Defending champ Jooan Deo was forced to relinquish her title to the young Albert who shot a 96 Gross and a Net 68 from his 18 holes.
Despite the Course’s excellent condition the overnight showers dampened the outfield, making life difficult for the golfers. Albert defied the odds in the end however, as he got the better of second place David Harry who recorded 85 Gross 75 Net. Third place went to Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) Secretary A. Shawh 88 Gross and a Net 70 while Fazil Haniff copped 4th place for his 85 Gross 75 net.
Among other notable awardees; MACORP executive Mario Acuna won Most Honest Golfer, Best Gross Papo Haniff 79 Gross, Nearest to the Pin William Walker and Longest Drive (250 yards) Robin Tiwari.

LGC President Aleem Hussain sinks a perfect shot during the speedy open Memorial

At the presentation, LGC President Aleem Hussain hailed the organizers for putting on a brilliant Open which he said saw the standard of Golf going up another notch. LGC member and close friend of the late Speedy Ramdial, Brian Hackett said it was good to see the massive support shown by the fraternity.
In support of the Ramdial Family, Hackett announced that the club had decided to offer Vish Ramdial and four other members of the family one year honorary membership to the club.
