Albion defeated Blairmont by 18 runs to book their place in the semi-final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/ Ramnaresh Sarwan Under-17 Fifty Overs Cricket Tournament.
In their match, played at the Albion Community Centre Ground, the home team made 134 all out in 46.2 of their allotted 50 overs. Tameshwar Mahadeo contributed 46 and Leon Cecil 18.
Aakash Harilall, who took 3 for 19 in bowling for Blairmont, was well supported by Anthony Sukhra with 2 for 10, and Saheed Baksh with 2 for 27.
In reply, Blairmont were dismissed for 116 in 42 overs. Marvin Prashad led the way with 55, and Datyah France contributed 19.
Left-arm-spinner Kumar Deopersaud and leg-spinner Parvesh Ganesh each took 3 wickets for 12 runs, and were well supported by leg-spinner Surendra Ramcharitar with 2 for 12 and off-spinner Cecil (only name) with 2 for 29.
Albion will today meet Port Mourant in the semi-final match to be played at Albion.
BCB Under-15 tournament
Permaul’s Trading and Distribution (PTD) of Albion made light work of Port Mourant in their Mike’s Pharmacy Under-15 clash yesterday at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
Led by a well-composed half- century from national Under- 15 batsman Tameshwar Mahadeo and superb bowling from the Albion spinners, the home team — defending champions in this tournament — recorded a lopsided 104-run victory over Port Mourant.
Batting first on a good batting surface, after winning the toss in sunny conditions, Albion posted a challenging 231 all out in exactly 50 overs.
Skipper Mahadeo, leading the way with 56, was well supported by Afraz Budhoo’s 32 not out, Manoo Inasie’s 28, and Afraz Kadir’s 25.
Bowling for Port Mourant, Rampertab Ramnauth took 3 for 26; R. Budnaha took 3 for 62, and R. Bharrat took 2 for 60.
In reply, the visitors were dismissed for 127 in 47.3 overs, with only West Indies Under-15 batsman Rampertab Ramnauth offering resistance with an attacking 46.
Bowling for Albion, left-arm-spinner Kumar Deopersaud bagged 3 for 18, while off-spinners Tameshwar Mangal, Mahadeo and Kadir each took 2 wickets: for 10, 20 and 21 respectively.
Albion’s next match is against Rose Hall Town at the Area ‘H’ Ground in Rose Hall Town.
