Albouystown fight lands women in court

A fight in Albouystown, Georgetown, has landed two women in court with one nursing injuries to her eye.
Twenty-nine-year-old Shelly Cox of Hill Street, Albouystown, appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on Monday where she denied that on September 25, 2019, at Hill Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Cassy Blair with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or cause grievous bodily harm.
Cox was represented by Attorney-at-Law Patrice Henry, who made a successful bail application. He told the court that his client is a mother of four and has an unblemished record and, therefore, bail should be granted.
According to the prosecution’s case, the Virtual Complainant and the hairdresser’s spouse were involved in a scuffle, when Cox intervened and inflicted injuries to Blair’s eyes.
The prosecution is contending that after the injuries were sustained, persons in the vicinity rushed the VC to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). The matter was reported to the police and Cox was arrested.
On Monday Cox was released on $100,000 bail. As a condition for bail, she has been ordered to stay 100 feet away from the VC. Both women were also on a bond to keep the peace. The case will continue on February 10, 2020.
