Albouystown man nabbed with ganja during roadblock

The cannabis leaves and stems that were found on the handle of the motorcycle

A resident of James Street Albouystown was arrested on Sunday after a quantity of ganja was found on the handle of the motorcycle he was riding.
Police said a party of Police ranks were carrying out a cordon and search exercise on the Enmore Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), when they intercepted the man who was on motorcycle CK 7505.
A search was conducted on his persons as well as the motorcycle during which a quantity of cannabis was found on the left handle of the said motorcycle in a black plastic bag.
He was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested and escorted to the Cove and John Police Station where the narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 22 grams. The suspect remains in custody pending charges.
A few weeks ago, two persons were arrested following a Police operation in several locations in Georgetown. It was reported that two men on a motorcycle were intercepted along Ruimveldt Public Road.
As such, the ranks carried out a search on them and found one .38 revolver special firearm with three matching rounds of ammunition in the crotch of the pants of the pillion rider. The serial number on the firearm was reportedly filed off.
They were both arrested and subsequently charged.
