Albouystown murder accused to be retried

City Magistrate Judy Latchman on Wednesday ruled that Steve Allicock who was cleared of the 2009 murder of Wendell Tappin of Albouystown, be retried when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Following the prosecution’s submission that the case be reopened, Latchman granted its request.

She told the Court that she did not find the submission to be unfair or contradictory and, as such, she deemed the case reopened.
Allicock along with his uncle Randolph Allicock and father Leonard Allicock, were all charged with the murder of Tappin, who was killed on December 31, 2009.
Randolph Allicock was never brought before a judge however; Leonard was acquitted of Tappin’s murder by Justice Diana Insanally.
Following this, a wanted bulletin was issued for Steve who managed to evade police for five years but was captured and charged in 2015.
He was discharged of the murder,as such the Prosecution filed for the case to be reopened.
On the day of the killing, Tappin, of 88 James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, reportedly had an altercation with the three when he was stabbed and chopped about his body.
He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
