The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Limited has announced, effective from July 13, 2020, all its retail stores will be opened.
These include the kiosk locations at the Giftland Mall which was closed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Similar to the protocols established at other retail stores, persons opting to make bill payments and access services at GTT’s Giftland Mall locations, are asked to abide by the special arrangements that will be in place to honour the company’s commitment to support physical distancing and the sanitisation necessary to curb the spread of the virus.
Protocols include the wearing of masks, washing or sanitising of hands, standing on markers 4-6 feet apart, temperature checks and the understanding that only a limited number of persons will be permitted within a store at any given time, (inclusive of staff present).
The GTT team serving customers, as well as the security guards, will be equipped with masks and other protective gear. This location will also implement a special service hour for all senior citizens and essential workers – the first working hour of the day.
Customers are reminded that the kiosk mostly permits cashless transactions and are encouraged to use this location for business such as MMG, SIM replacement/purchase and top up.
In April 2020, GTT took the hard decision to close all its retail stores due to the novel coronavirus. After one month, the company implemented safety measures and once equipped, reopened most of the retail locations in May.
Customers are still urged to utilise MMG as their primary source of payment to limit physical exposure by using digital payment methods.
