All-round Essequibo hand Demerara 6-wicket thumping

Essequibo wrapped up a dominant third round performance against Demerara, whipping the defending champs by 6 wickets at the Tuschen Ground on Thursday.
Failing to assert themselves as they did in round one, Demerara folded for a paltry first innings total of 40 in a mere 20.2 overs, after electing to bat.
The sole representative of their batting was Kennard Moonsammy, who sadly was the only batsman to reach double-figures with 11; all his teammates were routed by the Essequibo bowlers.

The mesmerizing spells which wrecked Demerara were courtesy of Joshua Jones and Joel Fortune, who bagged 3-10 and 3-9 respectively; with adequate support coming from Quintin Sampson, who picked up 2-9.

Essequibo, in reply, made 143 in 41.3 overs in their first innings, with Vice-Captain Kurt Lovell continuing his form with 43, while Sampson supported well with 43.
Jones flexed his muscles with a fiery 21 before the combination of Saadiq Khan and Ashmead Nedd slayed the Essequibo attack with returns of 5-42 and 5-43 respectively. Batting a second time, Demerara, 91 for 5 at stumps, were knocked over for 136 thanks, to opening knocks from West Indies U-19 player Joshua Persaud and the in-form Adrian Hinds, who both made 31.
It was then a simple task for the Cinderella County boys, who sped to 36-4 to win the match, with Lovell again “the man” with 14, as Nedd wrapped up another brilliant skin bowling exhibition to end with 8 wickets, after claiming 3 in the second innings.
