Fun and excitement will return to the most popular blackwater resort on the Essequibo Coast as Lake Mainstay Resort is all set to host its 16th annual Regatta and Stage show on August 14.
The event will feature exciting water games and a thrilling beach party accompanied by a stage show as thousands of patrons from across the country are expected to flock the beach for a grand summer party.
The gates to the magnificent freshwater lake resort will be open from 09:00h. The water games will commence from 11:00h, followed by a stage show and the presentations of cash prizes and trophies with over $3 million up for grabs in the various events.
This year’s Lake Mainstay regatta will see the best of the best boat racers competing in the “Clash of the Titans”. There will also be a race-off between Neil Gonsalves and Team from Pomeroon and Dave Scott & Team from Bartica.
Additionally, there are 12 categories of powerboat racing, including 2-15 HP-2 Lap Male/Female Race, 2-40 HP-3 Lap Male/Female Race, 3-90 HP-4 Lap Male/Female Race, 3-200 HP- 5 Lap Male/Female Race and 3- Open HP-6 Lap Male/Female Race.
In addition to the boat racing, there will be 1- 200 M- Male Canoe Race,1-200 M, Female Canoe Race and 1- 200 M- Open Swimming.
A memorial race in the 90 HP category will be held in honour of Orin Bell.
After the daredevil regatta races on the water, the big stage show and beach party will unfold with local artistes headlining. The line-up includes: Soca Monarch Jumo “Rubber Waist” Primo; Soca and Reggae star Yoland Nedd; Guyana’s Chutney King, Bunty Singh; Soca Queen Big Red; Chutney star Pooran Seeraj and local comedian Lyndon “Jumbie” Jones, who is expected to heat things up and send patrons into frenzy.
The artistes will be supported by Pream’s Mega Sounds Essequibo Champion Music Fusion.
As usual, the event will be for the entire family with lots of fun and exciting games and activities for children such as a fun park, merry-go-round, trampoline and bouncing castle. Don’t be left out.
