The stage is set for the grand coronation of the Miss Berbice Pageant and billed for Saturday evening at the Albion Sports Complex. The eight delegates vying for the coveted title participated in several preliminary competitions, including the swimwear segment, which was held at the Skeldon Estate Heritage Pool Side.
There the delegates showcased their posture and curves in designer swimwear. Then on Sunday, the delegates took part in a costume parade and were judged at the Rose Hall Primary School.
The delegates were tasked with coming up with a costume depicting a bird and from feedback and photos seen, the designs were quite creative. The scores from those segments will be tabulated and added to the scores on the night of the grand coronation to determine the winner.
On coronation night, the contestants will be showing their talent and evening gowns, as well as their intelligence. At the end of the night, only one of the eight beauties will be crowned the queen.
The reigning queen, Farah Bates, unfortunately will not be in Guyana to hand over her crown due to unforeseen circumstances.
This will be the 2nd edition of the “Miss Berbice – I am a Big Deal Beauty and Empowerment Pageant” and the organisers did exactly what they promised. The events were spread across Berbice thus raising awareness about the pageant.
Focus remains heavily on social awareness which is being tackled by delegates who are educating and informing the masses on issues of suicide, domestic violence, cyber-bullying and women empowerment, among others in an attempt to curb these social ills.
Top Brandz Distributors – the supplier of Corona, Budweiser, Bud Light and other non-alcoholic beverages remains the main sponsor of the event, as well as other youth and women development projects in the region.
