Alleged gas station bandit charged

One of the bandits who allegedly stormed the Rubis Gas Station and Mini Mart located on Vlissingen Road, Georgetown, was on Monday taken before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a robbery charge.

Delroy McKenzie pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that while in the company of another person on October 23, 2016, he robbed Gandarie Persaud of one purse valued $1000 and $23,000 in cash.

The prosecution revealed to the court that the defendant had held several staffers at gunpoint and demanded the articles from Persaud, after which he and his accomplice made good their escape.

Magistrate Singh remanded the defendant to prison. The case will continue on January 30.

Reports are on the day in question, the masked men pulled up in a heavily tinted car after which they barged into the gas station and robbed the staff.
