When 38-year-old Tameshwar Balram of Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown was arraigned on Thursday before Wales Magistrate Roshelle Liverpool, the allegation he faced was that on August 30, at Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara, he stole a goat from one of his relatives, Trevor Balram.
Unrepresented by legal counsel, Tameshwar pleaded not guilty to larceny of the animal, worth ,000; but he admitted to the court that he had served a three-year prison sentence on a separate matter in 2008.
And as the prosecutor did not object to the defendant being granted bail, Tameshwar was placed on ,000 bail, a condition of which stipulates that he has to report to the La Grange Police Station every week until his case has been determined in court.
He will make his next court appearance on October 12.
