Crane double murder

The man, who allegedly earlier this month hacked his wife and two-year-old son to death was on Monday charged with murder and taken to the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrates’ Court.Vanessa-Sookram

Suresh Ganesh called Tarzan, 28, was not required to plead to the indictable charge, when it was read to him by Magistrate Christel Lambert.

It is alleged that on 1 July, 2016 at Lot 57 Back Street, Best/Crane Village, West Coast Demerara, he murdered his wife Vanessa Sookram, 32, and their son Samuel Ganesh.

Also on the same day, the man attempted to kill his mother by chopping her to the hand.

The Prosecution is contending that on the day in question, at about 04:30h, Ganesh called to his mother requesting a cup of tea and bread. The woman took the bread and tea to her son after which she was attacked.

Reports are the woman was heard screaming and upon inspection neighbours reportedly saw Ganesh chopping her.

It was shortly afterwards that relatives and neighbours stumbled upon the bodies of Sookram and son.

After the charges were read to him, Ganesh was remanded to prison.

The case will continue on 9 August, 2016.
