Charged with stealing a woman’s cellphone on Regent Street, Georgetown, Chad Shivrattan of Diamond, East Bank Demerara has been hauled before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in that Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The 21-year-old market vendor is alleged to have stolen a Samsung smartphone worth $89,000 from Elaine Norton on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Regent Street, Lacytown, Georgetown.
Friday’s court session was not attended by the virtual complainant, and Shivrattan,
without legal representation, refuted the accusation and told the magistrate he is being falsely accused.
The prosecution did not object to this defendant being placed on bail, and has been placed on $50,000 bail.
Shivrattan’s next court appearance has been fixed for February 2, 2024. (G1)
