Alleged phone thief on $50,000 bail

A labourer of Water Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara was on Monday hauled before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a simple larceny charge.
Leon Davis, 24, denied that he, on February 6, 2019, while in the vicinity of Brickdam, Georgetown, stole from the person of Joel Paddy, a cellphone valued $80,000.
While no facts were presented in court on Monday, reports are Davis was acquitted of a similar charge almost three years ago.
However, Police Prosecutor Adunni Innis had no objections to bail being granted to the father of one.
He was released on $50,000 bail. The case will continue on March 18, 2019.
