Alleged umbrella thief before court

A young man was released on ,000 bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged for stealing an umbrella and other items.

Julia James pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on December 20, 2016, he stole one Blackberry cellphone valued $30,000, $20,000 in cash, and one umbrella valued $1000, property of Bomita Lashly.

Additionally, James is accused of using personal violence on Lashly during the robbery.

In court on Friday, the Prosecution had no objections to bail and as such the defendant was released on $60,000. The case will continue on January 9, 2017.
