Fresh off an emphatic nine-run victory via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday night, the Guyana Amazon Warriors have touched down on local shores ahead of their home leg of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The local franchise arrived on Tuesday afternoon ahead of their five-match home stretch, which will see them going into action against the Jamaica Kingsmen first on Friday, September 4.
On Sunday, September 6, the Amazon Warriors will take on the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots before turning their attention to the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on Tuesday, September 8.
The local franchise will close out their home stint with clashes against the St Lucia Kings on Wednesday, September 9, and the Trinbago Knight Riders on Friday, September 11.
Amazon Warriors captain Imran Tahir said on Monday night in anticipation of the team’s home leg, “We’ve been on the road; it’s not easy. We know that, but these four games were really crucial for us, and I’m really proud of the boys; we won all four. So, going home is going to be a good joy, but like I said, we have to restart again.”
The Amazon Warriors are currently unbeaten, recording four victories in as many games. They sit second on the points table with eight points and an impressive +2.604 run rate, behind the Falcons with nine points from eight games. The Kings and Kingsmen round out the top four, both with eight points.
