Amputee charged for damaging property

…wife begs for him to be remanded

An amputee was on Monday granted bail when he appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty charged with damage to property.
Peter Thomas, 52, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on November 11, 2016, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged household items valued $1.5 million belonging to Rita Howard.

The man’s explanation to the court was that his actions were not deliberate.
He explained that on the day in question, he was unbalanced, as he only has one leg, and accidently pushed the cabinet to the floor thus damaging the items.
He was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 and will return to court on November 28, 2016.
However, upon hearing that the defendant was granted bail, Howard pleaded with the Magistrate to change her decision.
According to Howard, she is very afraid of the defendant as he is very abusive and threatens the life of her and that of her daughter.
The magistrate then advised the VC to file for a restraining order.
