Berbice’s Desmond Amsterdam will headline an explosive Caribbean boxing card on January 24 when he takes on Linden’s Edmond Duclos in the feature bout at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) in Georgetown, as the Caribbean Boxing Organisation (CBO) and Briso Promotions bring together fighters from across the region for a night of professional and amateur boxing.
The international card will also see Guyana’s Quincy Gomes facing Barbados’s Charles Cox, Bahamas’s Rashid Williams battling Jamaica’s Yio, Terrence Adams of Guyana meeting Suriname’s Samuel Green, Joel Williamson of Guyana taking on Jamaica’s Demar Halmson, Delon Charles clashing with fellow Guyanese Jamal Eastman, and Suriname’s Mitchell Wilson squaring off with Barbados’s Tyrese Tate.

On the female card, Guyana’s world-ranked Abiola Jackson will go up against Trinidad and Tobago’s Angel Ide in a highly-anticipated regional showdown.
The full fight lineup was officially announced on Sunday in New Amsterdam, where officials of the CBO and Briso Promotions held a press conference aimed at promoting the event in Berbice, long regarded as one of Guyana’s richest boxing nurseries.
CBO President Seon Bristol said the decision to launch the promotion in Berbice was deliberate, noting that many of Guyana’s top fighters have emerged from the county.
“Many times, if the fighter can’t come to you, then you have to go to the fighters,” Bristol said, adding that Berbice remains central to the future of boxing in Guyana and the Caribbean.
Public Relations Officer Crystal Wills confirmed that the event will begin at 19:00h with gates opening at 18:00h and described it as a family-friendly night of boxing entertainment.

Tickets will be available in Berbice, and at the CASH, the Windjammer Hotel and the Transport Ground in Georgetown.
Wills said fans who cannot attend in person will be able to watch the event live via the CBO’s website, with the broadcast reaching multiple Caribbean territories, including Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada, Suriname, Curaçao, St Martin, St Lucia and The Bahamas.
National Coach of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Lennox Daniels, told reporters that the card will feature seven professional bouts totalling 36 rounds, along with at least four amateur bouts adding another 12 rounds to the programme.
He said the newly- refurbished CASH offers improved parking, air-conditioning and security, making it one of the most comfortable venues for boxing in the country.
Daniels also announced that regular admission tickets will cost $2500, while ringside seats will be $5000, emphasising that affordability was a key objective for the organisers.
The Guyana Police Force Symphony Band will perform at halftime to provide additional entertainment for patrons.
Before the boxing discussion began, Daniels requested a minute of silence in memory of the late Berbice boxing coach Gregory “Chassy” Curt, whose contribution to the sport continues to be widely respected.
Organisers said the January 24 card is designed to strengthen Caribbean boxing ties, expand opportunities for local fighters, and give Guyanese boxers the exposure needed to progress on the regional and international stage, while once again placing Berbice at the heart of the nation’s boxing conversation.
