An old rivalry resumes this Sunday at Everest

– Regal Masters looking to extend winning streak
The recently-crowned champions of the New York Softball Cricket League (NYSCL) Independence Cup, Regal Masters, will spring into action on local turf this Sunday when the Ink Plus, Crown Mining Supplies and Elegance Jewellery and Pawn Shop grand softball tournament resumes with three matches.

New York Independence Cup champions Regal Masters will be in action on Sunday at Everest

Local teams and individual players had a working break of two weeks from action on home soil to take part in the annual tournament in the ‘Big Apple’, where Regal Masters easily won the Eagle, the symbol of supremacy in the over-45 years category.
The highly-anticipated softball action will bowl off on Sunday when the champs take on HS Masters on Pitch One at the Everest Cricket Club Ground in the first of three matches scheduled for the day. The excitement will continue later in the day when Success Masters take on Narine Masters on pitch two while Fishermen Masters will seek to defeat RR Masters on pitch three.
Prior to their departure for New York, Regal Masters were on a four-match winning streak and will be looking to extend that when they take the field against familiar rivals HS Masters. At the start of the tournament in May, Regal Masters suffered a heart-breaking defeat to HS Masters off the last ball in a cliffhanger of a game at the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) Ground and will no doubt be looking to turn the tables while their opponents will be buzzing with confidence for a repeat.
Eoin Abel, Mahendra Hardyal, Mohendra Arjune, Parsram Persaud, Eric Thomas, Fazleen Mohamed and Mahesh Chunilall are among the top-class players who will be in action looking to continue their good run with both bat and ball when the competition resumes at 09:30h.
The tournament is organised by the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc, and is being contested in the Over-45 and Open categories on a round-robin basis.
