Anderson eager to make Guyana Jaguars debut in 2021

West Indies youth batsman Kevlon Anderson is regarded as one of the best youth batsmen in the Caribbean.
The ever-classy Anderson frequently displayed maturity with the bat at numerous senior local competitions in Guyana.

The humble lad from Berbice, who prefers his bat to do the talking, is hoping that he gets an opportunity to play for the Guyana Jaguars.
During a recent interview with Guyana Times, Anderson spoke about his eagerness to play for the Guyana Jaguars, the knowledge he walked away with from the Under-19 World Cup and how he is staying fit during the pandemic.
“I just want to thank God for life. I have been in the gym with the senior guys, the academy so that keeps me going,” Anderson said.
Sharing his sentiments on a future Jaguars call-up, Anderson noted that he was being patient and when he got that opportunity, he would be aiming to grab it with both hands.

Playing for the West Indies Under-19 team was a priceless experience, the right-hander said. “It’s a privilege for me that I have been there and have a feel where competitive cricket starts from and it’s just up to me to make that step forward (playing senior cricket),” Anderson explained.
Anderson, who bats at number three, scored 162 runs, the second highest by a West Indian at the last Under-19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, and he also scored a century in the World Cup warm-up match. He finished the tournament with an average of 40.50 and a high score of 86.
The right-hander, who plays his local cricket for Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC), was named in the Guyana Jaguars training squad to play three practice matches in preparation for the Regional Super50 Cup that is slated for February. He will be aiming to register strong performances and push closer to that senior team call-up. (Brandon Corlette)
