Andrew Lewis Novices for June 27-29

The Guyana Boxing Association’s (GBA) “Andrew Lewis” National Novices Championships will be staged at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue from June 27 to 29.

The National Gymnasium will come to life with boxing action from June 27-29

Some 75 pugilists are expected to take the ring as they clash for top honours over three days across 11 different weight divisions.
The defending champions, the Guyana Defence Force gym will come up against tough competition from the Forgotten Youth Foundation Gym, Republican Boxing Gym as well as the up-and-coming Wakenaam gym and upstarts Vergenoegen boxing gym.
The Young Achievers, Police, Harpy Eagles, Rose Hall Town Jammers, and Carryl Boxing Gym of Linden are all expected to compete in the annual competition which was named after the first Guyanese to win a world title.
After the conclusion of the National Novices championships, the GBA will turn their attention to the Lennox Blackmoore National Intermediate championships as well as the Terrence Ali National Open Championships slated for September and November respectively. Boxers to represent Guyana in St Lucia at the Caribbean Development Championships (CDC) will be selected based on their performances at National Open tournament.
