Jewel Andrew is set to represent the West Indies in his second International Cricket Council (ICC) Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, carrying with him experience, maturity, and a deep appreciation for the journey that has shaped his young career.
As the Caribbean side prepares for the tournament in Namibia, Andrew stands out as one of the key figures in a squad blending proven talent with exciting promise.
Reflecting on the past year, Andrew described it as a period of growth forged through constant challenges.

“This calendar year was a rollercoaster ride for me; every tournament, and I would say every game, brought a new challenge, so I learned a lot this year on and off the field,” he said. “It’s just for me to now transfer it into the new year and hopefully get some performances.”
For Andrew, this Youth World Cup carries special meaning. While playing at a global tournament was always a dream, he believes this competition has been central to his development so far.
“Playing in a World Cup was something I dreamt of, but for me, this is the tournament that gave me everything so far, so it really means something to me,” he noted. “Hopefully, I can just go out and do my best and also transfer knowledge to the other players.”
West Indies have been drawn in Group D alongside South Africa, Afghanistan, and Tanzania, with all group matches scheduled to be played at the High-Performance Oval in Windhoek, Namibia. Ahead of the tournament, the team will fine-tune preparations with warm-up matches against Ireland and Japan, also in Windhoek.
Andrew is clear about the role he hopes to play within the squad. Surrounded by talented teammates, he sees his contribution as both practical and supportive.
“I know they’re great players, and just playing together, seeing them perform was great to see,” he said. “My role in this team is fairly simple; it’s to feed information to the other players and also learn from them as well, and just contribute anywhere I can, on and off the field.”
The squad will be led by Captain Joshua Dorne and includes Jewel Andrew, Shamar Apple, Shaquan Belle, Zachary Carter, Tanez Francis, R’jai Gittens, Vitel Lawes, Micah McKenzie, Matthew Miller, Isra-el Morton, Jakeem Pollard, Aadian Racha, Kunal Tilokani, and Jonathan Van Lange. Reserves are Brendan Boodoo, Tyriek Bryan, Earsinho Fontaine, and Deshawn James.
