The Futsal tournament began last Sunday (April 24), and has already witnessed a few shockers from the best in the Futsal business around Guyana. With several match days to go, the donation from Andrews Supermarket is most timely as the tournament intensifies.
“Andrews Supermarket is proud to be associated with an event that is geared toward grassroots sports and giving youth an alternative to demonstrate their ability in football. We continue to applaud Jefford and the organisers of this event for coming up with activities to positively impact the lives of young people,” a statement from the entity explained.
Tournament Organiser Edison Jefford was more than happy to receive the Andrews support, and has praised the Supermarket’s involvement in the development of sport.
“I want to thank Andrews Supermarket for their continued support. We believe that without such support we could not host this event, and we are heartened that the corporate leaders such as Andrews still understand their role in participating in the development of sport at all levels. We sincerely hope that this example will be followed throughout Guyana,” Jefford shared.
The Magnum Futsal organizer added, “I want to thank all stakeholders for making this event possible, including The National Parks Commission, Guyana Police Force, Guyana Fire Service, Environmental Protection Agency, and Guyana Football Federation.”
The Magnum Independence Cup continues tomorrow night (Thursday, May 5) at the National Park with the Round of 16 Playoffs and with the Quarterfinals on Saturday (May 7). The tournament concludes on May 21st at the same venue, and the winner would pocket $700,000 while the team placing second takes home $400,000 and the ones placing third and fourth would receive $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
