Anna Regina beat Reliance by 83 runs in U- 15 school tourney

Anna Regina Multilateral (ARM) School got pass Reliance thanks to some all-round efforts on Saturday in the on-going Essequibo School’s U-15 cricket competition.
Played at the Reliance Ground on the Essequibo Coast, the home team were outdone by the eventual winners during the two side’s warm-up match. Batting first ARMS made 191 for 6 off allotted 20 overs with Eshwar Naught (38), Raynod Ramroop (31), Avick Ramdial (13) and Ardash Ramdial (11), leading the way with the bat.

Shivo Sewrattan and Raj Deonarine, who bagged two wickets each for Reliance, did little to stop the Anna Regina bowlers from running amok as they mowed down the hosts for 108 all out in 19.5 overs with Sudesh Motilall the top-scorer with 28. Bowling for Anna Regina, Raj Ramballi bagged magical figures of 4-20 while Bomesh Paul supported with amazing figures of 3-1; including a hat trick.
Meanwhile, Dr Vishwa D.B. Mahadeo of #66 Village Corentyne, Berbice met with young cricketers on Sunday afternoon at the Reliance, Essequibo Coast Cricket Ground.
Dr Mahadeo encouraged the youths to focus on their game, adding that sports can play a major role in grooming them for a healthier and more disciplined life. He further encouraged them to keep away from drugs and other substances which can harm them.
The guest speaker noted that as a Medical Doctor he served the Region for over 12 years at Public Hospital, Suddie. He said that he will be assisting Mr. Ramballi a business man of Essequibo Coast to launch an Annual Cricket Competition in the Region.
The aim is to target all Secondary Schools and one of the criteria to be qualified for the game is that student must have achieved the bar mar of 85% attendance at school.
