Anna Regina Multilateral beat Charity Secondary by 45 runs
The 2017/2018 National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL), sponsored by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and the National Sport Commission (NSC), continued with competitive action in the Essequibo Coast District, where Anna Regina Multilateral whipped Charity Secondary by 45 runs.
Playing at the Imam Bacchus Ground on the Essequibo Coast, Anna Regina Secondary won the toss, elected to bat, and made 94 for 8 in the process. Openers Kamesh Lall (32), national youth all-rounder Sheldon Charles (22), and Lance Roberts (26) were among those who starred with bat for their school.
Bowling for Charity Secondary, Roniel Gobin bagged the prized wickets of the
numbers two, three and four batsmen to record excellent returns of 3 for 8; while Monty Boyan, Tekchan Dialla and Desmond Carmen each chipped in with a wicket. In reply, Charity made heavy work of an apparently meagre victory target of 95, reaching 49 for 8 when their allotted overs expired. Number three batsman Desmond Carmen was the only Charity player to reach double figures, with 11.
The carnage was led by Badesh Parsatam, who mesmerized the Charity batsmen to end with exceptional figures of 3 for 7. There was a wicket each for Raphael David, Lall, Roberts, Raj Ramgobin and Sheldon Charles.
This competition is sponsored by the Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited (DMLAS) in partnership with the GCB, and it is endorsed by the NSC.
