Anna Regina Multilateral crowned Essequibo District Champs

Anna Regina Multilateral School became the first side to qualify for the 2017/2018 National Secondary School Cricket League sponsored by the Guyana Cricket Board, the Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited, and the National Sport Commission (GCB/DMLAS/NSC/NSSCL) and played at the Imam Bacchus ground on the Essequibo Coast.

The champs earned their crown by defeating Essequibo Islands Secondary by 51 runs, thanks to Anna Regina’s opening pair of Kamesh Lall and national youth player Sheldon Charles piloting their side to 76 without loss.
Apparently reinforced in their confidence from earlier wins, Anna Regina Multilateral looked and played like the champions, and eventually earned the Essequibo Coast District title.
The visiting Essequibo Islands team had been equally buoyant, having won the District that covers the region of Bartica, Wakenaam, Leguan and East Bank Essequibo. The Essequibo Islands players had appeared well prepared for the contest, exhibiting great teamwork in the field, this being particularly demonstrated in their accurate bowling and excellent fielding. Nevertheless, they were restricted to 25 for 5 off their allotted overs, as the Anna Regina bowlers reciprocated torture on these visiting batsmen with their mesmerizing control of length and line.
Batting for Essequibo Islands Secondary, Davindra Hamraj, with 12, was the only batsman to reach double figures. Bowling for Anna Regina Multilateral, Badesh Parsatom grabbed 2 wickets, while Raphael David, Lance Roberts and Kamesh Lall each grabbed one.
