Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers U18 Football
The Ministry of Education Ground on Georgetown’s Carifesta Avenue will be home to a monumental clash this afternoon, when two of the front-runners in the Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers’ tournament go head to head on the playing field.
Linden’s Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (CWSS), who currently sit at third place in the points’ standings, will be at full strength for their clash against current table leaders Annandale Secondary of East Coast Demerara. The extremely skilled Annandale are four points ahead of CWSS, who have proven to be free scoring with an incredible goal difference of +44.
The day’s activities will begin with another exciting match, wherein second place Lodge — tied at the top with Annandale on points, after winning each of their eight games contested — will look to come away with a big win against the struggling Queenstown Secondary.
Meanwhile, two other games will punctuate those two encounters. After the Lodge/Queenstown clash, St. Roses are expected to take on Uitvlugt Secondary. With both teams losing their previous encounters, a fierce battle is expected, as they both would be looking to improve their points standing.
The final game of the day will see Bishops’ High School and Vergenogen Secondary battling to stay among the top 5 teams. Bishops, who are lingering at number six, would want to better their chances at the title, whilst Vergenoegen would want to maintain their winning streak.
