Police on Wednesday arrested a 29-year-old man following the discovery of a quantity of cannabis and cash during an operation on the East Coast of Demerara.
At about 16:10h, ranks from the Vigilance Police Station and the Non-Pareil Police Outpost conducted an intelligence-led operation at the Annandale Housing Scheme residence of Joseph Tuesday, also known as “Pablo”.
During the search, Police found a multi-coloured haversack containing two bulky plastic-wrapped parcels with leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. Several transparent Ziplock bags containing cannabis were also discovered, along with $70,880, suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the narcotic.
Tuesday was cautioned and reportedly admitted to the offence. He was then arrested and taken to the Vigilance Police Station, where the cannabis was weighed in his presence. The substance amounted to 1131 grams.
He remains in Police custody and is expected to be charged.
