Home Sports Ann’s Grove holds on to beat Golden Stars
The East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) Senior League continued on Sunday at the Golden Grove Ground, East Coast Demerara with Ann’s Grove counter attacking to emerge winners in a 2-1 contest against Golden Stars.
Initially two games were to be played however, the first match between Beterverwagting and Mahaica was forced to be called off due to the want of referees.
Calvin Lilly stunned Ann’s Grove with a goal in the 19th minute which immediately sent the visitors on the back foot as they managed to fend them off up to the half time with the score 1-0.
However, Oswald Duke scored the equalizer in the 62nd minute while Ryan Fields sealed the deal, capitalizing on an opening in the 70th minute to send Ann’s Grove ahead.
With the result, the visitors walked away with three points while the home side was left empty handed.
The action will resume at the same venue on Sunday December 11 with more first round matches.
