Ann’s Grove woman dies after losing control of motorcar

A 32-year-old Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara (ECD) resident was killed on Sunday after the car in which she was travelling crashed into a utility pole at Greenfield, Railway Embankment, ECD. The deceased has been identified as Mathana Cambridge, the driver at the time of the accident.

A 27-year-old teacher, also from Ann’s Grove, ECD, received injuries and is being admitted as a patient at the Enmore Regional Hospital. Police stated that on the day in question, a motorcar bearing registration number PAE 6337 was proceeding along the roadway when the driver swerved to avoid colliding with a herd of cows, but instead lost control, crashed into a concrete utility pole, and ended up in a nearby trench. Cambridge and the occupant were pulled from the wreckage and taken to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where Cambridge was pronounced dead. An investigation into the fatal accident is underway.
