In celebration of 25 years of operation in Guyana, the ANSA McAL Group opened its first branch in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), creating direct employment for 10 persons within the township with proposals for growth.
ANSA McAL’s Managing Director, Troy Cadogan said with the opening of the new store, they would be in a better position to serve Barticians who would have supported them over the years even in the absence of a local store. He noted that Bartica is the gateway to the interior that provides access to some of the fastest growing areas in the hinterland.

company’s products while providing a better service to the residents without competing with the company’s longtime customers. He further explained that the pricing structure for the products would be the same as that offered in Georgetown.
Meanwhile, Bartica’s Mayor Gifford Marshall said the launching of the new branch is timely since it coincides with the town’s second anniversary. He said the past two years have been a challenge, but they are committed towards moving Bartica forward and ensuring the people are developed.
“We also want to focus on the investment in our people and we have had a number of street parties… a lot of investment in party like events, but I think if you are going to build a community that our business community can benefit from then we have to invest in our people,” Marshall added.
The Mayor urged the business community to embrace green practices that preserve the environment while keeping in line with the green agenda of the town.
Additionally, Regional Chairman Gordon Bradford lauded the company for their history with the town and urged them to continue to grow within the region.
“Your presence here is truly encouraging… we’re happy to have you here in Bartica and it speaks to the growth and expansion of our economy here in Bartica and the region and we are encouraged that you must have seen something that caused you to launch this branch. They have been here without a branch and with a branch the support would grow. We hope to see you launching more branches in the region,” he noted.
As a part of giving back, the company launched a public servant competition with a $500,000 prize for the best teacher, nurse and Police Officer respectively.
