APNU/AFC Councillor slapped with dangerous driving charge
Region Two (Supenaam-Pomeroon) Regional Democratic Council member Hardat Narine was on Tuesday taken before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court charged for dangerous driving, failing to comply with Police direction and failing to produce a driver’s licence.
The 48-year-old A Partnership for National Unity/Alliance For Change (APNU/AFC) Councillor, also known as “Sham”, pleaded not guilty to the charges which stated that on May 28, 2016 about 18:45h on the Anna Regina Public Road, he drove motor car PLL 4784 in a dangerous manner.
The prosecution is contending that when Police approached Narine and told him of the offence, he failed to abide by their instructions.
When the case was called on Tuesday, Narine was granted ,000 bail for the dangerous driving charge and released on his own recognisance for the other two charges.
The case will continue on June 28, 2016.
Police have since submitted the case file on another charge of using threatening language to a Police Officer for advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
