Dear Editor,
This is an appeal to the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA): Please clear the drainage canal which runs north to south on the Railway Embankment between Turkeyen and the CARICOM Headquarters. This canal is a continuation of the one which runs along the Railway Embankment.
The canal along the roadway has been cleaned several times over the year by contractors hired by NDIA, but not the section heading south to connect with the Downer Canal. Now that the rainy season is here, the accumulation of vegetative matter and garbage at the western end is a clear indication that there is a restriction in the flow of water. The situation is dire, and we need help.
