Three men barged into the shop of a businessman at Kanawaruk, Black Water Landing, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), and held him at gunpoint while he was taking a shower.
Reports are the businessman, Bhim Singh, was taking a shower at around 06:30h on Thursday when an armed man barged in on him and began threatening him whilst brandishing a revolver. According to Police, the 56-year-old man reported that he made several attempts to scream for help but the bandit stuffed his mouth with the gun.
According to Police, two other gunmen entered the building shortly afterwards and demanded that the man hand over his valuables.
In a bid to free himself, Singh began scuffling with the bandit who held the gun in his mouth. In the midst of the fight, the businessman managed to overpower the bandit and bite him in the process.
This publication was told that the suspect eventually fell to the ground, and Singh managed to run to the front of his shop and raise an alarm.
Persons in the area went to his rescue, but by that time the gunmen had already grabbed $1.8 million and made good their escape.
Ranks of the Mahdia Police Station were summoned to the scene.
This is the second time the businessman was robbed by armed bandits. The first instance occurred at his home in Georgetown. He was beaten and also robbed of a large sum of cash in the previous robbery.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing. (G9)
