Armed bandits rob Corentyne housewife

…rip off earrings

Armed bandits on Monday broke into a Whim, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) home and stole a quantity of jewellery but not before ripping a pair of earrings off the owner’s ears.
According to reports, at about 01:20h on Monday, 36-year-old Meena Kumarie was asleep with her 11-year-old daughter at their 13th Street, Whim home when she was awoken by a noise in her veranda. She quickly sprung out of bed and went into her living room to investigate when she was confronted by the three masked men. They were all armed with cutlasses, she recalled.
The men then demanded the woman’s jewellery.
One of the bandits ripped off a pair of gold earrings from her ears and grabbed a ring she had on her finger.
The men then ransacked her bedroom and picked up a cellular phone from the bed before leaving. The police were subsequently called and an investigation has been launched.
