Armed bandits rob minibus conductor

Police in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) are investigating a robbery committed by three armed men on a 21-year-old minibus conductor at his Recht Door Zee, West Bank Demerara home Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at around 21:30h. Guyana Times was told that the victim had just returned home from work when he was confronted by the three bandits, one of whom was armed with a silver-coloured handgun.
The armed men later duct-taped his hands and legs and relieved him of $5000 cash and his LG cellular phone valued $21,000. They also took his TCL television.
Investigations are ongoing.
Only on Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was arrested by Police and a toy gun recovered after he committed a robbery at the Guy-America Housing Scheme, Hill Foot, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
Police said that two men were on duty at the housing scheme when three suspects approached, held them at gunpoint and demanded an excavator sensor/monitor.
According to the workers, one of the perpetrators was armed with a gun.
During the robbery, one of the suspects ended up in a scuffle with the workers, which resulted in them being tied up and beaten.
Ranks responded and arrested one of the suspects while the others managed to escape. (G9)
