Armed bandits storm Tuschen home

…use family’s vehicle as getaway car

A Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo family was on Friday evening attacked and robbed by armed bandits, who carted off with the family’s motor vehicle, a quantity of cash and other valuables.
Reports are that 21-year-old Vidram Shiridac and his family members, 37-year-old Devika Muneshwar and Jessica Muneshwar, 29, were at home when at about 21: 35h, six bandits stormed through their front door and pointed guns to their heads while demanding cash.
Three of the men were armed with guns and were left to monitor the family while the others ransacked the house.
After raiding the home, the bandits hijacked the family’s motor vehicle for use as a getaway car and made good their escape with a total of $300,000, cellphones, a laptop and a quantity of jewellery.
Police Commander of Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), Simon McBean told Guyana Times on Saturday that Police are presently investigating the matter but no arrests were made.
However, the Commander informed that the stolen vehicle, a Toyota Primo bearing registration number PVV 648, was recovered at about 03:55h on Saturday morning at Uitvlugt Housing Scheme.
