Arrest warrant issued for “Old Head”

An arrest warrant has been issued for Wendell Pereira, also known as “Old Head,” of Lot 34 Blue Berry Hill, Wismar, who failed to attend court to answer two charges of breaking and entrry and larceny.
The 51-year-old accused escaped from Police custody after he was charged and was being prepared to attend the Linden Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that between July 15 and 16, 2018, at the Wisroc/Amelia’s Ward Bus and Car park, Pereira broke and entered the business place of Richard Hopkinson and stole half a case of shandy, valued at $10,800.
The other charge stated that the accused, between July 17 and 18, 2018, at Co-op Crescent, Mackenzie Linden, broke and entered the business place of Monica Reece and stole a quantity of items, including one flat screen television valued at $168,000, 1 VCR cost $15,000, an amplifier valued at $65,000, a gas bottle valued $8,000, 18 bottles of Black Stone, valued at $32,000; 18 bottles of Banko valued at $6,000, and 10 Pringles costing $3,600; all to a total value of $297,600, property of the said Monica Reece. When the matter was called, Pereira was absent, and the prosecution indicated that the accused had been in custody but escaped. The case will continue on August 7.
