Twenty-eight-year-old Lester Leander, a miner of Wisroc Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden, was on Tuesday sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for setting fire to a dwelling house.
The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Wanda Fortune after he pleaded guilty to the charge when he made a virtual appearance at the Linden Magistrate’s Court. The Administration of Justice Act was applied and as such, the Magistrate handed down the ruling.
Leander was arrested on January 29, 2022 and charged for the offence which was committed on the dwelling house of Tricia Glen of Obama Drive Squatting Area, South Amelia’s Ward, Linden between January 28 and 29, 2022.
He was charged under Section 141 of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01.
