Aspiring Berbice photographer hopes to see world through his lens

After leaving school early, Noel Khan tried his hands at many things, but nothing was permanent and there was no passion, drive, or satisfaction from what he was doing.
After he was out of a job for almost two years, his sister saw the frustration in his eyes. The frustrations that come with unemployment started to get him down and he became depressed.
His sister, who has a media background, decided it was time for him to create his own opportunities and chart a different course. So, she encouraged him to learn videography and photography; fortunately, he found much happiness from capturing and preserving the precious moments of others and so he decided to make it his profession which has given him much independence and an unlimited amount of creative freedom.
Noel, who hails from Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice, has seen how many young men his age and younger have caved in to the pressure to live a dishonest life and vowed to never take that path. He has instead created his own destiny as a young and humble photographer.
Now he is the owner of a small business that caters for any event that would need a videographer or photographer and through his profession, he has been able to find fulfilment and happiness.
When he first started, he would sometimes borrow the camera of Andy Henry, another photographer who he describes as his mentor.
After about a month, he started purchasing his own equipment and with help of his family he is on the rise in the Ancient County. He also works as a cameraman/videographer for News-in-Depth/Royston Drakes Production in Berbice and is loving the field of news which has helped him to meet countless people from all walks of life.
“The thing that I love about photography is that you get to travel and meet new and awesome people and if it wasn’t for this, I’m not sure what I would be doing because I love what I do … photography has given me a lot of independence,” Khan explained.
He is also now in charge of photography at News-in-Depth, which has its office in Rose Hall Town, and he is able to conduct in-studio shoots as well. Khan is looking to expand his business and continues to learn and evolve in his field of work.
His advice to youths is to stay focused and true to themselves and understand that hard times don’t last and better is on the horizon, once they are willing to work hard and make the sacrifices necessary to get to their goal.
Now Khan and one of his older brothers, Samuel, have teamed and are working to make a major impact in their field in not just Berbice but Guyana in general, as well as expand their operations.
