Attempted execution accused released on bail

The duo who attempted to execute ex-cop Teon Allen, called “Spoil Child”, at East La Penitence, Georgetown were granted bail on Wednesday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Renard Caesar and Lashawn Lewis

Renard Caesar, 23, and Lashawn Lewis, 22, both of Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) were jointly charged and appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
It was alleged that on October 5, 2019 at La Penitence Market, Georgetown in the company of others and with intent to commit murder, they discharged rounds from loaded firearms towards Allen.
When the matter was called on Wednesday, the duo were released on $500,000 bail each and the case was adjourned to December 19, 2019.
The prosecution is contending that Allen was at the East La Penitence Market purchasing vegetables when Caesar and two others exited a car and opened fire at him. The matter was reported to the Police and following an investigation, a wanted bulletin was issued by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) for Caesar, who later turned himself in at the Mackenzie Police Station. Reports at the time were that Allen returned fire and shot one of the men attacking him.
