Aubrey Norton’s claim of unsigned SoPs exposed as false by GECOM records

In a bid to discredit the recently concluded electoral process and persuade the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) into calling fresh elections, the leader of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), Aubrey Norton, has claimed that several Statements of Poll (SoPs) were not signed by the respective Presiding Officers.
In a letter addressed to GECOM Chairperson, Justice (Ret’d) Claudette Singh, Norton identified five SoPs/ballot boxes – specifically numbers 40711, 40728, 40792, 41003, and 41005 – as allegedly lacking the required signatures.
However, a simple verification of these documents – which are posted on GECOM’s website – reveals that each of the cited SoPs does, in fact, bear the signatures of the Presiding Officers, directly contradicting Norton’s assertions.
