Automotive giants embrace Futsal Tournament

Leading automotive dealers, Sankar’s Auto Works and Bumper to Bumper Auto Services have renewed their commitment for the third edition of the Mohamed’s Enterprise, Cell Smart Futsal tournament organized by New Era Entertainment and scheduled for Linden town.
At two separate presentations at the companies’ head offices on Durey Lane, Campbellville and Anira Street Queenstown respectively it was highlighted that both organizations have been involved with the tournament from the inception, two years ago.

Speaking on behalf of Sankar’s Auto Works, Chandran Kumar said that the company is proud to continue to be part of the tournament and help to promote activities that help youths to occupy their time positively and hopefully one day, out of this tournament, persons can represent Guyana.
Meanwhile, Bumper to Bumper’s Finance and Administration assistant manager, Janet Alphonso pledged the company’s continued support to the development of youth and sport.
“Over the past 3 years Bumper to Bumper Services’ has been a proud sponsor of the Futsal Tournament, held in Linden. We believe in giving back to the community and youth development, especially in the area of sport which is a major part of entertainment throughout the country,” the assistant manager stated.
Both companies pledged an undisclosed amount in sponsorship but it was revealed that both companies have increased their support from the previous years.
The tournament will commence on November 25 with action set for the Mackenzie Hard Court in the mining town of Linden and will run for nine nights and concluding on December 26. The event is open to all Futsal teams and attracts an entry fee of $5,000 per team. Forms and the fees should be submitted by today which is the closing date for registration.
New Era’s Director Kenrick Noel expressed thanks to the two companies for their stalwart contribution to the development of the tournament and looked forward to their continued partnership as the organizers aim to make the tournament one of the biggest in the region.
Game nights are set for November 25 with the opening ceremony, followed by action on November 26, December 2, 3, 9, 10, 17 and 23. The grand finale is on December 26.
The first prize is $400,000 along with trophies and replicas, up by $100,000 from last year. The second placed team will claim $150,000 and trophy, third $75,000 and trophy and fourth place will collect a trophy. Other prizes are on offer for the MVP, Best goalkeeper and Best young player.
The organisers are working to have the females involved in this year’s event, while several exhibition games will be part of the attraction. Among those exhibition contests are the Promoters versus the Referees, Taxi Drivers against Mini Bus drivers and a specially arranged Media contest. Noel, indicated that next year they are endeavoring to have school players involved to aid with the development of the game at the junior level.
This year some 20 teams will be competing in the New Era Futsal tourney, up from the 14 that played in the previous edition.
The organisers are promising an exciting and entertaining tournament with lots of side attractions. Patrons are encouraged to go and support the tournament as the teams put on their best show to claim the prize money on offer.
