Bagotstown man shot while chatting with ‘child mother’

A chicken vendor was on Sunday evening shot while having a conversation with the mother of his child at West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The injured man has since been identified as 43-year-old Shemroy King of Seadam, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Based on information received, about 20:30h, the now injured man was having a conversation with his child’s mother when he heard a loud explosion. Soon after he felt a burning sensation to his right elbow and blood flowed profusely.
It was then he realised that he had been shot. As such, he immediately took a taxi and proceeded to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor and placed in the Accident and Emergency Unit, where one warhead was removed from his right hand.
He remains a patient at the medical facility and is said to be in stable condition. The Police have since attempted to make contact with the victim’s child’s mother, but to no avail.
Several persons have been questioned in relation to the shooting incident as Police continue their investigations.
